Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

A New Friend
Sam was having a little down. He hoped to have a new friend to play with. One day, while he was playing in the park, he saw something unusual. It was a little being with glowing feathers. Sam slowly approached the creature and said, "Hello! What's your identity?" The creature smiled and replied Sam, "My name is Lily!" And so, Sam made a new mate. They spent the rest of the day talking together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be close buddies forever.
